Teams defaults to expired account

I'm a freelance professional and as such I've had to use differing accounts to log into Microsoft Teams.

I have a meeting this afternoon only my tablet for use of Teams.

However I am selecting the account I wish to use, yet Teams is repeatedly trying to log me in with the email address of an expired account.

I have repeatedly selected the account I require and entered the correct login details, yet Team immediately moves to the log in screen with the email address of the expired account.

I select login with a new account, and the loop starts again.

How can I make Team accept the details of the account I have correctly entered?

Thanks

    Hi Lee-Martin, are you working with the desktop app or the web app? I only have intermittent luck changing accounts with the desktop app. In the web app, if you sign in with an account, that account is permanently embedded in your browser until you clear all history and all cookies, basically resetting it to a fresh start. As such, if I need to access Teams or the MS Teams Portal for customer management, I always use Incognito Mode. If you're in a hurry, opening an Incognito browser window to teams.office.com is my recommendation.

        Good point. Replace the word "Desktop" with "Mobile." Question still stands though, are you using the standalone application or are you going to the website?
        I'm guessing the application since navigating browsers in tablets is annoying, but try a browser in incognito mode and see whether you're able to sign in with your active account. Unless the active one and the defunct one use the same username/email, you should be ok, and you can wait for MS to fix Teams Desktop/Mobile/Gameboy Color. I wouldn't hold my breath.
  • This loop you're experiencing with Teams trying to log you in with the expired account on your tablet can be frustrating. Here are a few steps you can try to make Teams accept the correct account details:

    1. Clear Teams Cache and Data:

    * Android:
    * Go to your device Settings.
    * Find "Apps" or "Applications."
    * Locate "Microsoft Teams" in the list.
    * Tap on "Storage" or "Storage & cache."
    * Select "Clear Cache" and then "Clear Storage" (be aware this will log you out of all Teams accounts).
    * iOS:
    Unfortunately, there's no straightforward way to clear the Teams app cache on iOS. However, you can try reinstalling the app.

    2. Remove Existing Accounts:

    * Open the Teams app on your tablet.
    * Try to log in with the desired account.
    * When the expired account email appears, tap on "Sign in with a different account."
    * This might display a list of previously used accounts. Select the expired account and tap "Remove."
    * Now, try logging in again with your desired account credentials.

    3. Incognito/Private Browsing (if applicable):

    * If your tablet allows using a web app version of Teams, try accessing the meeting through a private or incognito window in your web browser. This can bypass any cached login information.

    4. Check Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA):

    * If your desired account has Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled, ensure you have your phone or authentication app readily available to enter the verification code when prompted.

    5. Reinstall Teams App:

    * As a last resort, consider reinstalling the Teams app. This will remove any corrupted data or settings that might be causing the issue. Remember to download the latest version from the app store.

    Additional Tips:

    * Ensure your tablet has a stable internet connection.
    * Check if there are any pending updates for the Teams app available on your device.
    * If none of these solutions work, consider contacting Microsoft Teams support for further assistance. They might be able to provide more specific troubleshooting steps based on your account details.

    By trying these steps in order, you should be able to resolve the loop and log in to Teams with the correct account for your meeting.

    Kindly confirm if this information proves helpful to you.
    Thanks.
