Sending email when a new channel message is added

I'm looking for some insight as to the following. 

I setup an automation as follow. 


If someone sends an email to a channel, the automation sends an auto-reply message to the sender. If I send an email to the channel, the automation works. I get an auto-reply message. When someone who is not a member of the channel (but is within the organization), i get a fail message. 


Error Message: WorkflowOperationParametersRuntimeMissingValue. The 'inputs.parameters' of workflow operation 'Get_user_profile_(V2)' of type 'OpenApiConnection' is not valid. Error details: The resolved string values for the following parameters are invalid, they may not be null or empty: 'id' "


Here is the flow. 


the error comes up in the "Get User Profile V2" area. It seems to now be capturing the email address of the sender. The sender is in my same work group. they are not a member of the group yet (this is intentional) as I want those who send an email, to become members after the fact.
