Scanning Documents Directly Into Files in Teams

Hi,

Is it possible to scan files from a copier directly into a Microsoft Teams folder without posting the item directly to a channel? Our department has started using Teams, and we scan a variety of documents to the channel currently through the email address I pulled from it, and our admin folks can then move files from the "Email Messages" folder to places they need to be filed.

The hiccup for us is that we work in public safety, and from an operational standpoint, we ideally want to keep channels for important notes about pass-along information for patrols and those kinds of things. Currently when I look at our channel feed, we have important items scattered among notifications of a couple hundred documents. Is there any way to circumvent this and move it directly to the Email Messages folder? Or a way to turn off notifications from emails so that they don't clutter our channel?

Thanks!

I set up a Mail Contact in the ECP (Exchange Control Panel) and then use it to route Alerts and Notifications into a dedicated Channel within a Team. It works well for all the MS Service issues and Network Equipment status. I suppose it could work for digital scans also. Just set the Mail Contact to the e-mail of the dedicated channel and see if that works for you.

Forrest_H Good idea. I may give that a try. I've researched a good bit and feel like there's not a way to "invisibly" get it to go to folders. One more channel wouldn't be an inconvenience, I don't think. Thanks!

  • What about using Power Automate to get the invoices from the inboxes and route to the proper channel folder in Teams?
