MS Teams - versions of packages not clear about Meetings vs Calls

Brass Contributor

Hi,

here is some questions:

  • the 'Advanced Communications' is a package just for online meetings with more people?
  • the 'Phone system' is just to dial out from TEAMS via 'SBC + IPBX'?
  • the 'Microsoft 365 Business Voice' support 'SBC'?
  • the 'Microsoft Stream' is a required license to RECORD meetings?

*** The 'phone system' is integrated on E5 plan or as add-on to E1 plan.

>>> Is there some comparison table with TEAMS options/features and its packages???

Hey @Renato Pereira,

To begin with here is a MS article you can refer for teams add on licenses : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/teams-add-on-licensing/microsoft-teams-add-on-licens...

To answer your questions:

  • he 'Advanced Communications' is a package just for online meetings with more people? : Basically yes, but there are other added benefits like monitoring and customizing meeting experience. Please refer the advanced communication section in above shared KB.
  • the 'Phone system' is just to dial out from TEAMS via 'SBC + IPBX'? : Yes, Phone system is a prerequisite to setup outbound domestic/International pstn calling along with suitable calling addons.
  • the 'Microsoft 365 Business Voice' support 'SBC'? : Yes, Its is basically a trimmed down version of enterprise plan with only restraint on number of users who can be assigned this license. The services offered remain pretty much the same : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/business-voice/business-enterprise-comparison#:~:tex...

  • the 'Microsoft Stream' is a required license to RECORD meetings? : Not exactly, User needs to be licensed to upload/download meetings to/from Microsoft Stream, however they do not need the license to record a meeting. This will mean that the recordings aren't stored in Microsoft Stream but are instead stored in Azure Media Services. Refer article : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/cloud-recording
  • The 'phone system' is integrated on E5 plan or as add-on to E1 plan. : Yes, phone system is included in E5 and is also available as an add-on to E1.
