Copy and paste teams link in a text message on cell phone

I was trying to send a meeting link to a colleague that could only join on his personal phone with no access to his email. After i copied the Join Meeting Link and pasted it into a text message, it pastes as text and not linked.  Does anyone have any work arounds? I tried to copy from email, from outlook calendar and from Teams calendar and nothing works.

    What phone do you have? On my iphone in Outlook, i have a share this invite link that texts the URL just fine?

        It's actually Teams. If you open the Teams mobile app, then the calendar, then open the meeting. Right there under the info near the top, the first link above join is a "Share meeting invite" this will let you copy / text etc. using the phone sharing and is the URL for me.
