Cannot install Teams - Access denied

Copper Contributor

I am trying to re install teams since my first version threw some errors. I am getting this error below but i cannot remove this folder since it says access denied. I tried with admin privileges and still it does not allow me to remove it.

System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\Users\SMILU\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Teams\current' is denied.

I am the only user in my PC and i am the administrator. But this folder is inaccessible after i removed my old teams.

@smilu Hi, I guess you have something installed on your computer that is blocking the removal of this. Check this thread where they had a similar error when Webroot's Realtime Shield protection was running.

Also close all other Office applications like Outlook and make sure that outlook.exe is not running  with Task Manager.

Remove the PreventInstallationFromMsi entry in the registry :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Teams
