Can't use Microsoft Teams for web

Using my personal Microsoft account, I signed up a while ago for Teams free tier.

now I can log into Teams on desktop app but I can't log in when accessing it through browser.

https://teams.microsoft.com/_#/licenseError?errorCode=GuestUserNotRedeemed

When I proceed with sign up, It takes me here:

https://signup.microsoft.com/create-account/signup?p

where I get this message:

and by pressing the Sign in button, the same process repeats again. so I'm stuck in a loop. what can I do now to use Microsoft Teams free on web and why is this happening?

  • So I just closed the Teams desktop app (while the browser tab with the error message was still open) and then it suddenly started loading Teams web!
so apparently as long as the Teams desktop app was open, I couldn't access the online version.
I hope this is not an intended feature.

HotCakeX Whaaat? You don't need to signup! I have unlimited Teams with my personal account even though I didn't signup and I don't have Microsoft 365.
    • It's not about that,
sign up with MSFT account is required for free Teams

HotCakeX Interesting, I'll try signing up again with my alias account.
