Clarifications on BYOL-licensed container offerings

Copper Contributor

Hello,

I'm evaluating to add an Azure containr offering with BYOL licensing model.
In the technical setup for the plan I have to provide my Azure subscription ID and the help text says

"""
Provide the subscription where resource usage is reported and services are billed for the Azure Container Registry which contains your image
"""

Can you please clarify what this means? Will I be billed for use of Azure resources and not the end users who use my offer?

Thank you

To be more clear I would like to know which of these two options is correct:

1) Customers pay me for the license and I pay for their use of Azure resources with my subscription. So I need to estimate Azure resource usage when pricing the license
2) Customers pay me for the license and they pay Azure for the resource usage

Thank you
Hi

Per the doc (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/marketplace/azure-container-plan-technical-configur...), you will have to estimate and charge for the Azure resource usage when pricing the license. But the container image publishing is in sustained engineering mode. It is not a recommended path.

I recommend using the following instead (assuming container image is not a critical dependency and you are open to working on AKS instead):

* https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/marketplace/azure-container-plan-technical-configur...
* https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/marketplace/marketplace-containers#licensing-option...
* https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/marketplace/overview#why-sell-with-microsoft

Hope that helps.
