FAQ: Metered billing - translating Azure Cost & variable number of users

Q: I'm an ISV that provides a digital asset management solution; my customers may use lots of storage and compute, and we want to translate our Azure costs directly to one metered dimension, something that has a 1:1 relationship to the cost we know for each customer (using tags). Are there any examples or experiences of other ISVs using the metered dimensions like this?

 

I also want to bill a per user fee, but the Metered billing goes with the flat rate only. Is it possible to create a dimension for the users and send it once a month with the number of users for every month?

 

A: Both of these scenarios are viable and have been used by partners before.
