Sandboxes for Finance and Operations App on one Tenant with different environments

Dear community, I am having a doubt regarding the granted sandboxes for the Finance and Operations App: we have one customer tenant with different F&O environments. Does this mean that the customer is getting one production and one sandbox T2  for free, for every environment he is deploying as long every environment contains 20 full user licenses? Formerly I thought that the customer would get 1 production and 1 sandbox T2 per tenant, but I checked the MS documentation and as far as I understand, the customer could have 1 sandbox for free for every environment. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/fin-ops-core/dev-itpro/deployment/manage-sandboxes-across-projects

Only if the customer needed more than one sandbox, he would have to buy the Operations Sandbox add-ons.

Can somebody confirm my new theory? Thanks

        Christine one response was:

"Normally the partner should go to their license reseller to ask licensing questions." Can you reach out to them for this?

I did some googling and found this:

        ---------

You're correct in your understanding, but let me clarify it further.

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (F&O), the licensing structure provides a customer with one production environment and one sandbox (T2) environment for free per tenant. This applies when the customer has a minimum of 20 full-user licenses. The free environments include:

        • 1 Production environment (Tier 2 or above)
        • 1 Sandbox environment (Tier 2)

This is per tenant, not per environment, meaning a customer gets one production and one sandbox environment per tenant—not per environment deployment.

However, if the customer requires additional sandbox environments, beyond the free one that comes with the licenses, then they would need to purchase the Operations Sandbox Add-on.

        So, to confirm:

        • Per tenant, the customer gets one free production and one free sandbox environment, provided they meet the minimum full-user licenses requirement (20).
        • If the customer needs additional sandbox environments (for example, more than one sandbox for testing or development), then they would need to purchase those as add-ons.

If the documentation you checked seems to suggest something different, it could be helpful to recheck the specific details, as Microsoft sometimes updates or clarifies its licensing structure. But the current standard understanding is that the free environments are provided per tenant, not per deployment environment.

This is from an outside source, but maybe it helps?
