AVD remote desktop app showing on screen but not responding to clicks until you minimize/maximize
Over the past couple months and more recently we have had users report issues when opening up office apps as well as other non Microsoft apps from the remote desktop client to access AVD apps. The window for the application will appear on screen but not respond to anything until you shift+right click on the app icon in the taskbar to minimize and then maximize it again. We are on version 1.2.4157 of remote desktop. Anyone else experiencing this issue?jholmquistNov 04, 2025Copper Contributor8.6KViews0likes16CommentsAzure Virtual Desktop External Identities
Hi. I was delighted to find out that External Identities are now supported in Azure Virtual Desktop (preview). https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/authentication#external-identity-preview I have attempted to set this up and test it as per the requirements and known limitations above. However, when I sign into the Windows app with my guest account, I do not have any AVD resources available. Are there any detailed setup instructions or is there anything not obvious that I might be missing? Thank you!tadhgcliffordNov 02, 2025Copper Contributor54Views0likes3CommentsWindows App External Keyboard Issues, Android Galaxy S10 Ultra Tablet
I am experiencing a few abnormal issues that I'd like to raise for awareness. Not major, as I'm sure I can find workarounds and get used to it but they are inconvenient for me. And I believe this might be related to the Samsung Android One UI 8.0 update that pushed to my tablet earlier this week as that is the biggest change that happened before I started experiencing this. For one, I used to be able to press the Cmd button on my external keyboard, by default no special config or setup was needed, and the windows menu would appear when remoted into a machine via the windows app. Now it backs me out of the app and takes me to the Android home screen. Also, the control, shift, arrow keys and control z features (for continuous selecting and undoing) do not work as before. It seems that after 2 arrow key presses the text will no longer be selected and the cursor for the arrow key will just move, even if control and shift are still held down. Similarly with control z, I can only undo one item, then with control still held if I press z it will just input the z key over and over. Any assistance is appreciated. I can provide more clarity if needed.Mark7996Oct 29, 2025Copper Contributor20Views0likes1CommentMain monitor for the Remote Desktop Client
Is there a way to select a "main monitor" for the the AVD session. Our users have a laptop (wherever they want it) amongst 3 standard 24" monitors. We have a few hyper-annoying users making this request and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason that I could find in short order to select a main monitor.DBR14Oct 21, 2025Iron Contributor8.7KViews0likes7CommentsMouse pointer disappearing over Word/Excel/Outlook in AVD
Hi We are seeing a strange issue on a bunch of session hosts where user over certain apps cannot see the mouse pointer in their full screen AVD sessions. Session hosts are running Windows 10 22H2 up to date (well to February B week release); user client up to date, I am not aware we had user ever report this prior to completely rebuilding a new host pool last autumn for the AppReadiness crashing issues. From what we can tell this only seem to happen with Microsoft Excel, Word and the Outlook compose window, the mouse pointer basically becomes transparent as you can't see it so it makes it hard to select text or cells accurately. Clients are mostly a mix of HP and Lenovo PCs micro PCs running Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise on Intel 8th to 12th Gen CPUs and AMD Ryzen Pro CPUs with integrated graphics. Does anyone else see this or any ideas what might be causing it?dit-chrisOct 20, 2025Brass Contributor8.6KViews0likes4CommentsScaling Plan with AVD session hosts on Azure Local doesn't perform a clean shutdown
I have setup a scaling plan for my AVD sessions hosts that are running on Azure Local. The scaling plan is working as expected and the machines are taken offline during the hours specified which is reducing the service fee costs. However, I've noticed that the Scaling Plan is simply powering off the VM, it's not telling the VM to cleanly shut down which is leading to the sessions hosts having event log entries that they weren't shut down correctly and putting them at risk of disk corruption issues. Is this intended?MattENZOct 14, 2025Copper Contributor124Views0likes2CommentsCA policy Application not found in Target Resources
Hi, We have a CA policy for some external users (users created in AD and synked to Entra ID) that block access to everything in M365 except Azure Virtual Desktop (Resource ID: 9cdead84-a844-4324-93f2-b2e6bb768d07) and Security Info (for MFA setup). I read about Windows App, that it will replace the "Remote Desktop" app and it's web interface https://client.wvd.microsoft.com/arm/webclient/. So I tried to use the new Windows App web interface (https://windows.cloud.microsoft) with my external test user, but I can not log on. I get a screen that I don't have access. Checked the sign in logs and found that I try to log on to resource called "Windows 365 Portal". Test - Logging on using the Windows App installed on a PC: Application: Windows 365 Client Application ID: 4fb5cc57-dbbc-4cdc-9595-748adff5f414 Resource: Azure Virtual Desktop Resource ID: 9cdead84-a844-4324-93f2-b2e6bb768d07 Test - Logging on using the Windows App web interface (https://windows.cloud.microsoft/): Application: Windows 365 Portal Application ID: 3b511579-5e00-46e1-a89e-a6f0870e2f5a Resource: Windows 365 Portal Resource ID: 3b511579-5e00-46e1-a89e-a6f0870e2f5a "Windows 365 Portal" does not exist in the list of applications that I can set as an exception in the CA policy. The closest I found was "Windows 365", but that does not solve the problem (different Resource ID). What to do?WF-PHGOct 06, 2025Copper Contributor66Views0likes2CommentsHow to disable login for one server
Quick question: How do i disable logon for just one of many servers in a host pool? I tried Change Logon /Disable, but users are still getting redirected to the disabled server, only to get the error message "Remote logins disabled" ... Surely there must be a simple solution i have missed?Mtollex70Sep 30, 2025Brass Contributor7.6KViews0likes9Comments
