- ConfigMgrDaveCopper ContributorCan you guys elaborate a little bit on why the name change to Windows 11? This is quite the change from "Windows 10 is the last major OS" as announced at Ignite 2015. It seems as though Windows 11 is still built on top of the Windows 10 kernel (and registry version shows it as 21H2), so why the name change? This just has some documentation implications in our environment and we are trying to better plan for the future at our company. Can we expect similar name changes in the future that would match up with major UI changes? Will Windows 11 follow a similar update cadence to windows 10 (ie Windows 11 22H1, 22H2, etc?)

Hi ConfigMgrDave, thanks for the question. Windows 11 is more than a name change to Windows 10, as it is a new version of the operating system. In 2015 we shared our plans to deliver Windows as a service to bring new innovations and updates in an ongoing manner with continuous value for customers. This commitment remains – Windows was never meant to be stagnant. We will continue to deliver innovative experiences that empower people. Windows 11 will have an annual update cadence, in the H2 timeframe.
- caseykellerCopper ContributorCan we expect any Windows 10 feature updates past 21H2 (e.g. a theoretical 22H1) or will Windows 10 receive primarily security updates once Windows 11 is widely available and the focus shifts to it?

Thank you for the question! Windows 10 will be supported through October 14, 2025. We will have details on future Feature Updates at a later time.
- jjgreinCopper ContributorWhat can you share on the changes to team integration in the box. Especially from an enterprise perspective

Thanks for the question, jjgrein. Please view this blog for the Teams integration in Windows 11: https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2021/07/20/first-preview-of-chat-from-microsoft-teams-begins-rolling-out-to-windows-insiders/
- MurtadhaCopper ContributorHello there, Where could I find works related to Windows Performance analysis, especially on ETW? like detecting memory leak, CPU saturation etc...
- Zach Dvorak
Microsoft
Hey Murtadha, thanks for your question! For insights on the end-user experience on your managed devices, check out Endpoint analytics in MEM. Endpoint analytics doesn't currently cover the specific scenarios you mentioned, but I'll make sure the team gets your feedback. What other scenarios would you like to see related to performance?
- Rahul11051991Copper Contributorwhat is the main reason behind the recent announcement about release of Windows 10 21H2 whereas Windows 11 release has been announced a month back also is there any strategy (Apart from WaaS) Microsoft is thinking about to release Windows 11 updates in enterprise infra
- Jason_Leznek
Microsoft
Hi, Rahul, can you please clarify the questions?
- Reza_AmeriSilver ContributorAny update about combating 0-days? People are worried about printnighmare and SolarWinds and while Microsoft doing great job protecting users against 0-days but sometimes we have to wait for the patch and it would be nice to have some special defense mechanism in place while we are waiting.

Microsoft
Have you heard about the new Expedite capability in Intune? It allows you to dramatically increase your patch speeds without having to change your existing steady state policies. 🙂- Reza_AmeriSilver ContributorYes, that is the great feature, however sometimes patch is not available yet and we have a workaround , for example in case of printnightmare we have to disable the spooler service and wait. Of course when the patch is available we have to use Expedite capability like you mentioned.
- Reza_AmeriSilver ContributorSpeaking of TPM, one problem with the mandatory TPM requirement is if the TPM is not available, then it means user need to purchase a new motherboard (a new device) and it would be very expensive for them. I believe it would be nice if we would have a USB based TPM , so user could purchase this TPM on USB and connected it to the device and login . It would be like we have our home's key on our pocket , we would have this special TPM on USB in our pocket. This would required special design. For example, for many devices we don't have a Camera to support Windows Hello Face Recognition, what we did was to purchase this Camera and connect it with USB, instead of purchasing a new PC just because we don't have the special camera.
- acabelloCopper ContributorYou may want to check if your motherboard has the connectors for installing a TPM module instead, ie: https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/TPM-20-Module
- R_StarzuftIron ContributorIn many cases the problem is not a place for the module but ability to obtain TPM modules. A number of them are out of stock with the big vendors. Some mother boards need a specific type of TPM (vertical board or chipset type) and the information is lacking there
- Jason_Leznek
Microsoft
Thanks for the feedback! We'll forward it to the security team for their consideration. I can imagine where having a TPM chip easily removable (like USB) might be a concern.- Reza_AmeriSilver ContributorThank you, the idea might seems easy but it is complex but worth a try. We might have AD backup in place, special way to only run USB on a device based on special hardware ID. It actually has to be special USB.
- Ignite? When is the next Ignite scheduled? 😉
- ThomasTrombleyFormer EmployeeStay tuned, Peter! The next Ignite event will be announced in the coming months.
- Christian ZenzanoBrass ContributorWill Ignite be an attend event or will be virtual like Ignite 2020
- myokeehIron ContributorWhy can’t I log into the new Store app with my Work/School account on Windows 11? I can’t download/update our line-of-business apps on it.
