Any employee can create an AMA event from their storyline. Can this feature be deactivated so only communications employees and leaders can initiate them?
- ayana_chenFormer EmployeeHi Andrew. The capability currently does not exist to deactivate the AMA feature for particular users, although we are looking into building toggles to allow for this.
- ayana_chenFormer EmployeeAndrew, curious to learn more about your use case here. Can you please share why you would want to limit AMA creation to particular users?
- AndrewconyfCopper ContributorIs there a complete comparison of changes between yammer and viva? or like a video? Also, it is incremental changes, is there a timeline with milestones for these changes?

Viva Engage is the new name and experience for Yammer. All the features you know from Yammer remain available for all M365 customers. See https://danholme.substack.com/p/yammer-is-engaged-get-to-know-viva for details. Last week, we just introduced new features available for Microsoft Viva customers: https://danholme.substack.com/p/viva-engage-features-for-leaders So "video" is the same in Viva Engage as it was in Yammer. But stay tuned--we've got GREAT new experiences coming.- AndrewconyfCopper ContributorIn short all functionalities, front-facing interface, and backend will be the same? In the articles you have shared, I do not see the timeline/milestones of this transition.
- KateTwiddleCopper ContributorThere doesn't seem to be that much difference between Yammer and Viva Engage other then Viva Engage being within Teams... Can you tell us what is coming? What will be the main differences other then the name?

Hi Kate. If you take a look at our recent blog, it outlines all the rebranding changes. Viva Engage and Yammer are the same thing - and we are bringing them together under on brand. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/yammer-blog/yammer-is-evolving-to-viva-engage/ba-p/3738825
- stefanthormannCopper ContributorVery exciting to see so many new features coming to Yammer / Viva Engage. From a Corporate perspective I would like to know which features will become part of the experience in every case and which features (like stories) will be opt-in / opt-out. And related to that: how is MS supporting these changes from a change and adoption perspective to help us communicating?
- Allison MichelsIron Contributor
Hi! We are working on a rebranding kit that you will be able to repurpose and use with templates and messaging. More Viva Engage adoption resources can also be found at https://adoption.microsoft.com/en-us/viva/engage/

Hey Stefan, I'd recommend reading through this Admin blog to learn how to manage the new roles and toggle in/off features: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/yammer-blog/new-admin-center-for-viva-engage/ba-p/3738824 By default, campaigns, analytics and sentiment will be on but can be turned off. Being able to turn off AMAs will be available soon.
- Sarah2345Copper ContributorPer the exact instructions from Microsoft, we continually and repeatedly explained that Yammer is NOT being renamed. It's now being renamed. This seems to have been in the works for a while. How do you expect us to communicate this reasonably and fairly to our population, without looking like we're going back on our word?
- Feel free to throw Microsoft under the bus on this one (though I agree with Steve/Murali that "never" wasn't part of their messaging).

Hi Sarah, I know there have been times where I have said to folks that there are no plans to change the Yammer name and that was true as of the time that I said that. As you can imagine businesses and brands evolve over time. In our efforts to bring Yammer more closely to be aligned with our Viva suite, we felt it prudent to make sure that the overall branding was consistent with that. Regardless of what this platform is called, we pledge to continue to bring a product that promotes employee engagement, knowledge sharing, and rich discovery. - MuraliSitaram

I don't believe our intent was to ever say that a rebrand would "never" happen. I am sorry if it came across in that way. The first real decision for a rebrand was internally made very recently and we moved fast to communicate as soon as we were able to a worldwide audience.
- TeeLynnCopper ContributorOur org deployed a company-wide Team (with about 10 channels so far, everyone in the company is a member of this team and all of its channels) as the central communication mode. I'd love to see more resources for adopting Viva Engage when the workforce is already heavily invested in the org-wide Team structure. Need more evidence and case studies that show the benefits gained from moving org-wide conversations to Viva Engage and away from Teams.
- JWackCopper ContributorOne problem we have with a 6000 person team we've been using for a product rollout because we didn't have Yammer available yet is people creating channel meetings in the team. No matter what we're tried, we can't get them to stop, so that's one reason I'm happy about rolling out Yammer (Viva Engage).

Hey Tara, Viva Engage and Teams are complimentary, and work well when integrated or used together. Here are some blogs that include ways that you can think about using Engage inside of Teams. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2020/04/20/connect-people-across-entire-organization-through-communities-microsoft-teams/ https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams-blog/bringing-large-groups-and-communities-together-in-teams/ba-p/2758095 We think of Teams for core focused work with a defined set of people, whereas Viva Engage is perfect for broader, public conversations, questions, events, and threads where numerous people will be interested and/or weigh in. When using Engage in Teams... you get the added benefit of blended notifications and a single pane of glass.
- PaayalarunashokCopper ContributorDo we need a separate license like Viva engage core to leverage the complete Viva engage experience? or is it included in the existing E5 license?
- espnguyen
Microsoft
The base capabilities that are available as part of 'Yammer' today, are available as part of the Viva Engage core license which is included in all the Microsoft 365 enterprise SKUs. There are new set of premium capabilities that we just released (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-viva-blog/new-leadership-analytics-and-knowledge-experiences-for-viva/ba-p/3738818) that will require the Viva Suite license. More information about the Viva Suite license here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-viva/pricing- MattShiversOccasional ReaderJust to be clear, Advanced Analytics are going to cost extra?
- MajaAVPTCopper ContributorMy understanding is that existing Yammer licenses continue to be valid for Viva Engage. I would like to know if there will be plans to charge for premium features, like leadership corner or storeys/storylines?
- PaayalarunashokCopper ContributorI was under the impression that Viva engage core comes with a additional cost? Please correct me if i am wrong.
- Samantha_AllenBrass ContributorWhat is the exact timing for the rebranding of the mobile app and browser versions? What exactly will this mean? What will change initially and what will come later? When will the URL change?
- jamestyer
Microsoft
Hi Samantha. The current timeline is outlined in our recent blog about our new capabilities and rebrand: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/yammer-blog/yammer-is-evolving-to-viva-engage/ba-p/3738825- Samantha_AllenBrass ContributorHi James, I was looking for exact dates to help with our comms plan. Will the change just happen or can we control when it is applied?
- PaayalarunashokCopper ContributorI noticed few enhancements to the Yammer network admin center reports. Do we foresee any major updates or changes to the admin center configurations? If so what will it be?
- shreyanarla
Microsoft
We have a new admin center for managing Viva Engage, check out my full blog post here - Viva Engage Admin center overview | Microsoft Learn. We are continuing to bring more admin configurations into the new admin center, but for now you will see a integration between the Engage and the Yammer admin center for compliance and data export activities. Through the course of this year, more admin configurations will begin to live within the Engage admin center (given the rebranding). We will keep you posted as and when they release.
- PaayalarunashokCopper ContributorDo you have a list which you can share, with the forthcoming configurations? I ask this, because every single configuration in bigger organisations has a larger impact and a proper decision needs to be taken.
- Nathalie SchiltzBrass ContributorWhat (new) Yammer features will we lose with Viva Engage (if any) ?
