For questions about any details about the Early Access Program (EAP), please address them to your Microsoft account team.
For full overview of Copilot, check out this blog post: How to prepare for Microsoft 365 Copilot
This AMA will be a live text-based online event with no audio or video component like an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with Microsoft product experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

**A quick note to address some of the recurring questions we’re seeing. While we are not currently addressing licensing/pricing/availability questions in this AMA, Microsoft 365 Copilot will be an add-on license available for Microsoft E3, E5, Business Standard, and Business Premium customers to begin. More information will be provided in future.
- arinkominsIron ContributorDo you at least know if it can be for the non-unified license? This has been a sore spot -- I have "purchased" microsoft 365 E5, but my actual licenses are office 365 E5 + microsoft 365 E5 features.
- arun_kumar_perumalCopper ContributorHow can customers enable licenses given for early access program without impacting security/configurations
- GabeHoFormer EmployeeCopilot is built on top of and integrated with Microsoft 365. This integration enables you to take advantage of the existing Microsoft security, compliance, and privacy solutions that you’ve already deployed in your organization as well as other controls that may be made available to help you configure the use of Copilot as appropriate for your organization.
- arinkominsIron ContributorAlso -- is there any actual information on license cost -- whatever copilot will be in ADDITION to the E3 or E5? Will that be per module you are using copilot with cost? or will that cost be across all workloads in the tenant?

We will share more information about pricing and licensing in near future. It will be a per user model.
- arinkominsIron ContributorI understand that you need to be at a Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 license. Is it enough to have the Microsoft 365 E5 features? I'm not using a unified license today - my Microsoft 365 license people tell me repeatedly that I do not need it. I have Office 365 E5 plus MIcrosoft 365 E5 features. Will this be sufficient? I just went through this with Avatars - and they had to change their licensing model.
- chrimorgIron ContributorDoubtful -- I would truly believe you need the named license, as opposed to the effective license tier
- arinkominsIron ContributorThen I'm back into getting into screaming arguments with my account team. Please please please make the account teams aware that this MUST be the unified named license, if that is correct? ...and provide guidance to them on how to upgrade people to the named unified license!!!
- AutomationsanonCopper ContributorCopilot is integrated into Power Automate - this is great. Copilot can be used to tell you what an action in power automate does or to create a new action (like create an email), I understand all this. But I'm struggling to find other practical use applications with Copilot and Power Automate paired together. Is there a link or a video that will tell me more in depth, how I can use copilot in conjunction with Power Automate? I see the potential, just struggling with practicality.

Is your question about Copilot in Power Automate (https://powerautomate.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/automate-smarter-than-ever-before-with-ai-builder-and-copilot-in-power-automate/) or about the potential ability to use M365 Copilot to command Power Automate?- AutomationsanonCopper ContributorI guess my question was for both but I didn't realize I was asking about two work streams (I see that now). The above link is a great starting point thanks.
- NatPorBrass ContributorWhen will the official communication to the customers which are parts of EAP be sent? We are in almost daily contact with some Microsoft contacts but seems they also have very little information. Would be great to receive an official timeline.

Please check back with your account team, they are best positioned to answer that. Nominations and approvals are currently underway.
- arinkominsIron ContributorIs there any information on security controls for Copilot, other than what was in the blog post (on the watch for oversharing?) Are there any external user controls that can be applied?

Microsoft
That is what is available today, we are working on more capabilities for GA.

How can Solutions Partners join the early access beta? We have a shared customer base with Microsoft and are looking to share our feedback and insights from our enterprise customers. Plus: we want to help explain the future to G-Suite partners approaching us and seeking concrete arguments to convert to Office 365 at an enterprise level. - JoshLeporati

Hi Will_Barry_UpSlide - We have avenues to help our solution partners get information on features and capabilities as well as working on how we'll be able to work with early access previews in the future.
I'll follow up via direct message to you on signup process for partner access to our Copilot Partner community where we'll have a lot of that information for partners.
/Josh
- adesseauxOccasional ReaderHello Josh, I missed the AMA but as partner we're interessted too. Could you share the information for signup process for partner with me please ?
- GarrettFoyCopper Contributor4. Bing chat forces Edge usage, is that the same for Copilot? Will it be embedded in both the online products and desktop?
- KevinSherman
Microsoft
Users licensed for Copilot will get the cross-app experience in Bing.com. That allows they to use natural language to create open ended prompts to reason over your Graph content. To use this functionality, yoiu do need to be using Edge. To your second question, depending on the app, Copilot is available in desktop, web-based apps, and/or mobile. Going forward, we'll continue building on tge surfaces that people use most.
- GarrettFoyCopper ContributorI know its almost certainly out of your scope, but forcing Edge to use innovative technology is an oxymoron to most of your users.
- GarrettFoyCopper ContributorThis has been answered in another post, the answer I received was no to using edge, it will be embedded in 365 products.
- GarrettFoyCopper Contributor3. Can we control exactly what Copilot is trained on? If we train it on proprietary data, does everyone who uses Copilot within our company have access to that data through Copilot
- Ben_Summers
Microsoft
Hi - while the short answer is that we don't train Copilot on proprietary data, here's a longer explanation: https://youtu.be/B2-8wrF9Okc - dereksnyderFormer EmployeeCopilot reasons across your business data, but only that which the user is permissioned for. For instance, Copilot will be able to answer questions about meetings that the user is invited to, files they have permissions to access, emails and chats they receive, etc. Copilot also can access broadly accessible data sources like Sharepoint which allows employees to ask more general questions.
- GarrettFoyCopper ContributorUnderstood, so does this mean if we use a custom data connection it will use the same principals? Or do we have to define permissions when we connect the data gateway?
