Event details
We are excited to announce a Microsoft 365 Copilot AMA on Thursday, July 13th at 9:00 AM Pacific time!
Join our experts to ask questions about Microsoft 365 Copilot and discuss some best practices to prepare your organization for Microsoft 365 Copilot. The focus of this AMA will be on technical readiness for Copilot. Responses to questions about licensing, pricing, and availability will be shared in future. For questions about any details about the Early Access Program (EAP), please address them to your Microsoft account team.
For full overview of Copilot, check out this blog post: How to prepare for Microsoft 365 Copilot
This AMA will be a live text-based online event with no audio or video component like an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with Microsoft product experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.
Feel free to post your questions about Microsoft 365 Copilot now through the end of the live event in the comments below. Please note, questions will not be answered until the live event.

- BA_MaxIron ContributorQ7: Will there be a limit of queries to Copilot per hour/day/month etc.?
- Samer_Baroudi
Microsoft
Thanks for your question, Max! No, we have not shared any limits such as the number of prompts or responses. That said, to ensure optimal performance and equitable use across all Copilot users, access to some features could be limited or reduced at times depending on usage.
- arun_kumar_perumalCopper ContributorCan you share more details on the privacy assessment that shall be done for each organisation
- AutomationsanonCopper Contributorfollowing because I need this too
- BA_MaxIron ContributorQ6: Will there be a maximum document size when giving Copilot context?
- KevinSherman

While there are no explicit limits, capabilities are still under development and experiences will vary over time ahead of product release. To ensure optimal performance and equitable use across all Copilot users, access to some features could be limited or reduced at times depending on usage.
- BA_MaxIron ContributorQ5: What is the most practical way to "feed" data to the relevant space for Copilot; i.e., would it be best to have all relevant meeting notes in the same place if asking for a summary or would location not matter?
- Ken EwertFormer EmployeeSpecific location doesn't matter as long as the documents etc are part of your M365 tenancy datasets.
- BA_MaxIron ContributorQ4: Will anyone outside of the company have access to data (i.e., if we store client data, this will determine what we can make use of Copilot for)
- Ken EwertFormer EmployeeAll existing M365 privacy , security and compliance commitments are maintained with CoPilot. Users outside your tenancy will not have any access to data within your tenancy (other than if you have already explicitly shared the data yourself of course).
- AutomationsanonCopper ContributorFollowing along because I need this too
- BA_MaxIron ContributorQ3: Will all staff need a license upgrade or will it be possible to target specific staff to give Copilot to?
- Yana Terukhova
Microsoft
More information will be shared about licensing in future, but yes, you will be able to assign a license to users. - GabeHoFormer EmployeeCopilot will be an add-on license that at this time requires the user to have Microsoft E3, E5, Business Standard or Business Premium. You can assign Copilot licenses to specific users who have a base license.
- BA_MaxIron ContributorQ2: Will data be transmitted outside of the UK ("")?
- Sydney_Graham
Microsoft
(Note this info applies to EU countries, not UK- just providing additional detail). The LLM call processes customer data in memory and returns the response and other customer content artifacts to the home region. No customer content data is written outside the home region for the user. For European Union users, we have additional safeguards to comply with the EU Data Boundary. EU traffic stays within the EU Data Boundary while worldwide traffic can be sent to EU and other geographies for LLM processing. Please see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/DeployOffice/privacy/microsoft-365-copilot for more details.

If you are signed up for EAP today, data from the UK is processed in North America, but we are actively working on changing that during the Preview and by GA data will be processed in your home region or very close to it.

Reposting my questions just because it seems that multi-questions aren't accepted!
Q1: Will data be stored and processed solely in UK data centres (for a UK based tenant)?

Sydney_Graham Yana Terukhova thank you yet found contradicting information in the supplemental terms when following all the links. Under data flows it says (yellow mark) "by using AOAI Features, customers agrees its data may be stored and processed outside of its tenant's geographic region, compliance boundry or national cloud instance." That does not comply with the EU data boundry. Additonally in the T&C from July it does not clearly mention that all data remains within EU data boundry. Clear non-contradicting information would be super helpful since we need to present it in front of the works council. Our company is located in Austria btw - but simply used the already existing thread.
- arun_kumar_perumalCopper ContributorHow can we limit the copilot product only for certain applications like word, excel but not for outlook
- Yana Terukhova
Microsoft
Currently there is no such control, but please share your scenario, why would you want to do it per app?- arun_kumar_perumalCopper ContributorWe are looking at use case just for excel or word. Start with one or two app and others
- CMCKENZIE365Occasional ReaderHi, Are you able to provide any information on how it will be licensed and an indication on cost? Many Thanks, C
- jimspignardoCopper ContributorAMABT, Ask me anything BUT that!
- GarrettFoyCopper ContributorThey've said they aren't going to give any information on licensing and cost unfortunately.
