Problem with dots in Word

Hi! I have trouble with dots (bullets) in Word in Microsoft 365. When I click enter, the new bullet in new section is not created. I used tab button, and it didn't helped. Thank you so much for your help.

  • When bullet formatting is removed as you press Enter, the explanation is usually that pressing Enter applies a new paragraph style to the text paragraph. This is controlled by the "Style for following paragraph" option in the Modify Style dialog box. Look at the dialog box for the style you are using for your body text paragraphs.

  • First, click in an existing bullet paragraph and check whether Home > Bullets is active. If it isn’t, the dot may just be a typed character. Select the relevant paragraphs and apply Home > Bullets to create a proper list.

Then place the cursor at the end of a bullet that contains text and press Enter once. Word should create the next bullet. Pressing Enter on an empty bullet ends the list; Tab changes the indentation rather than adding another item.

If you’re starting a separate section after a heading or blank paragraph, click Home > Bullets again to start a new list there.
