Finding the recycling bin on Microsoft word
Word does not have its own Recycle Bin, so the recovery location depends on where the document was saved. If it was a file on Windows, open the Windows Recycle Bin, locate the document, right-click it, and choose Restore. If it was saved in OneDrive or SharePoint, open that service and use its Recycle bin; restored files return to their original folder. For a document that was never saved, open Word and go to File > Info > Manage Document > Recover Unsaved Documents, then save any recovered copy immediately. Also reopen Word after a crash and check the Document Recovery pane. If you deliberately closed the document and selected Don’t Save, Word may have removed its AutoRecover copy, so recovery is not guaranteed. If none of those locations contain it, stop creating files on the affected drive and restore from File History, OneDrive version history, or another backup.
