How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

Yeah seriously, 2 years. The toggle exists in Win10, just bring it to Win11 and let us move on with our lives.
- DeletedPlease wait it will be updated soon. everybody is working on it.
The main objective is to teach people what windows is not just use the same old features again and again.
Kindly understand that you should learn the new features and the old ones together as an option basis.
I hope you understand.
Do not worry it will surely come out soon.
Please be patient.- careca_777Brass Contributor

What are you on about? Imagine if fridge manufacturers decided they wanted to teach people what a fridge is, and instead of cooling, it would keep food really warm: "it's the new way fellas! what, you want the old features?"
Joking aside, if an "old" feature works and people find it useful, why mess around with it? This kinda looks like car manufacturers making **bleep** up that people dont need in order to try to push them into buying a new car.

I just received an update and am now running Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.2115). Under Personalization/Taskbar, Taskbar behaviors now looks like this:
I changed the relevant settings from "Never" to "When taskbar is full". However, I still have combined taskbar buttons. I have not tried another restart yet, but just changing the settings has done nothing. It's hard to imagine how anyone ever thought removing this functionality was a good idea.

"to teach people what windows is"? This approach is completely wrong.. I hope this is not Microsoft's opinion.

igmar75 Hi,
This wasn't a response from a Microsoft employee - this user is advertising an app - which I certainly don't recommend, so I had to add it for clarification.

1. Please note - windows has given an option for combining several taskbar buttons as one since this windows 10 feature was removed temporarily from windows 11 pro till a huge number of customers have agreed with combing taskbar button and not those buttons which are separated.
2. if you really want to separate the taskbar buttons please use the following software -
A- Startallback - https://www.startallback.com/
[Official website]
Features of Startallback -
Restore and improve taskbar
- Show labels on task icons
- Adjust icon size and margins
- Move taskbar to top, left or right edges
- Drag and drop stuff onto taskbar
B - Stardock Start11 - https://www.stardock.com/products/start11/ [Official Website]
Features of Stardock Start 11 -
From the basics like returning the right-click menu on the taskbar to ungrouping of windows on the taskbar. You can also choose to have your icons centered on the taskbar with your Start menu left aligned.
In this image taskbar alignment does not have the option "Never combine Taskbar buttons" which you should mention to put it as an option for users for windows.

I have the option now through the dev channel. It works like windows 10 used to and despite being supposedly more unstable than the other releases, i didn't have any issues for the past month.

i have tried developer (DEV Channel) but it is more unstable than Beta Channel so i am sticking to beta channel.
But dev channel only works for two months or so then gets unstable but i am sticking with Beta channel which really really has minimum errors.i am happy you got the required settings and options you wanted but maybe if a lot of people suggest that option then only people will be able to make optional features for different versions fo windows and i hope it comes true which i also need anyways lets hope for the best.
- nobodyshomeCopper ContributorHas there been any movement on this? I moved back to win10 just to get this one feature as it's so unproductive to switch between two of the same programs (like 2 x vscode)
- GuiRitterIron ContributorYes, it's already available on Insiders and should come to stable "Soon™". I think I read somewhere that it should happen by the end of the year or next year, but I may be remembering wrong. It's coming, that's for sure.

Posting here in 2023 to pile on and tell Microsoft that getting rid of this functionality was a supremely terrible idea

2023 and this feature is still not here. Very nice.
- NoraaJunkerBrass ContributorIt is currently only available for Windows Insiders and will soon come to stable.
- CassRTIron ContributorThanks for the info. I appreciate the updates and will try out Win 11 when it is part of a regular upload. I assume that is "stable?"
- boumbhCopper ContributorI installed Windows 11 on one of my PCs and this is the missing feature that prevent me for doing so on my other PCs.
- thecrwthCopper ContributorSo let's get this straight...2 years later, 1000 people asking for this, and Microsoft just ignores this? Assuming people will just get used to it. Did they forget that Linux and Apple exist?

It's been added in insider builds, soon will make its way to the stable build too.

Yes, it is there on the Canary channel. Although it took several days to show up.
- ConstantineKetskaloCopper ContributorTotally agree that we should get this function back. Microsoft, people are using their eyes, so let us use them!
