How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- Jul 30, 2024The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.
Deleted"The main objective is to teach people what windows is not just use the same old features again and again."
What are you on about? Imagine if fridge manufacturers decided they wanted to teach people what a fridge is, and instead of cooling, it would keep food really warm: "it's the new way fellas! what, you want the old features?"
Joking aside, if an "old" feature works and people find it useful, why mess around with it? This kinda looks like car manufacturers making **bleep** up that people dont need in order to try to push them into buying a new car.
I just received an update and am now running Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.2115). Under Personalization/Taskbar, Taskbar behaviors now looks like this:
I changed the relevant settings from "Never" to "When taskbar is full". However, I still have combined taskbar buttons. I have not tried another restart yet, but just changing the settings has done nothing. It's hard to imagine how anyone ever thought removing this functionality was a good idea.

This is explained in the release notes:
[NEW] As a reminder, while the settings for never combined mode for the taskbarare showing up under Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors in this build, they currently do not enable the experience. This will be fixed in a future Beta Channel flight soon.

Win 10 would be my choice, but windows will continue to downgrade to win 11- CassRTJul 28, 2023Iron ContributorI'm sticking with Win 10. Thank goodness there are people willing to download Win 11 and let us know the "progress. "
- CassRTJul 27, 2023Iron ContributorAt first blush, it sounded encouraging, but the reality does not appear to match the expectations. Thank you for your courage to try!
