How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

Really wishing I didn't update. I can not live without "Never Combine"
I really hope they change this or I will need to go back to windows 10
- kavahoxIron ContributorNote that you have only 10 days (or so) to go back, and it seems they won't solve this problem until summer. If I were you, I would go back — I missed my opportunity, and haven't yet gotten used to this new arrangement.
- AdagioBCopper ContributorI really wish I could revert back to Windows 10. Unfortunately for me I missed the deadline as I got sick (Stupid evil Corona) just after downgrading to Windows 11 and didn't get well before it was too late. At least I only did it on my work computer, but I don't want to spend a lot of time to reinstall everything again
I recommend everybody to revert back to Windows 10

Hi Everyone,
After using 8.1 for a few days I noticed that the never combine taskbar option to be very useful and cool if I put it on the top or left or right.
Count me in on this as it's a good feature and good for businesses or hospitals with mointers or touchscreen.
Really Windows 11 took away live tiles, aero, never combine, left/right/top is annoying and 8.1 is the best A:)

- HorrgakxCopper ContributorPLEASE put it back!! I hate having just the icons, especially on a 5120x1440 monitor.
- RemoFleckingerCopper ContributorI want to join the crowd. I'm now Installing every hack I can find to get this functionality back.

I agree that Microsoft needs to bring back the ability to ungroup taskbar buttons. Hovering over the button then waiting for Windows to show the sometimes indiscernable thumbnails of windows then clicking on one to switch between windows is way too slow and unproductive. Give me an instant click any day. If I wanted an unproductive, pretty OS I would buy a Mac. Please bring this back Microsoft. This was the sole reason I could no longer work in Windows 11 and had to go back to Windows 10. I tried the workaround apps but that produced too many additional problems.
- mikek88Brass ContributorMatt, thank you for the thoughtful reply. what trouble did you have with workaround app Explorer Patcher? many others said they have been using it for a while and it works great. i can't bear the thought of a clean reinstall of Win 10 and apps and data so i've been about to use Explorer Patcher. What's wrong with it?
- MattMasonCopper ContributorHi Mike, I didn't try ExplorerPatcher, I used a clunky solution with Classic Shell and Winaero Tweaker which resulted in a Windows 7 like start menu and taskbar and some features that just didnt work and it felt a bit Frankenstein where Windows 10 was a much cleaner experience. Looking at GitHub there are still a few bugs being posted recently with ExplorerPatcher when new Windows updates are released but I'm not sure how quickly they get resolved. For me it was a pain to reinstall Windows 10 with all the apps and settings but I can't say I miss anything that Windows 11 had to offer. I am hopeful that Win 11 may eventually add the feature to never combine taskbar buttons but am happy with Win 10 for now. Please let me know how you go with ExplorerPatcher and if it does not introduce new issues? I would suggest to try it as you can always uninstall it. Cheers
- DemkyCopper ContributorPlease I need this option; i can't keep windows 11 if I can't disable "combine taskbar buttons" !!

A very stupid bug that removed this option is a lot more likely than some professionals in Microsoft even having suggested it, who would otherwise have best left Microsoft. Absolutely annoying change. Please bring it back now.

100% agree with the rest of the people in this thread. This is a major step backwards. Please, please restore the ability to Never Combine. I can live without the labels but combining all spreadsheets into one tiny icon is a time consuming inconvenience. I'll be installing Explorer Patcher as well and hope it fixes the issue. If not, back to Windows 10.
