How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- Jul 30, 2024The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

I agree that Microsoft needs to bring back the ability to ungroup taskbar buttons. Hovering over the button then waiting for Windows to show the sometimes indiscernable thumbnails of windows then clicking on one to switch between windows is way too slow and unproductive. Give me an instant click any day. If I wanted an unproductive, pretty OS I would buy a Mac. Please bring this back Microsoft. This was the sole reason I could no longer work in Windows 11 and had to go back to Windows 10. I tried the workaround apps but that produced too many additional problems.

What's wrong with it?
- MattMasonJan 30, 2022Copper ContributorHi Mike, I didn't try ExplorerPatcher, I used a clunky solution with Classic Shell and Winaero Tweaker which resulted in a Windows 7 like start menu and taskbar and some features that just didnt work and it felt a bit Frankenstein where Windows 10 was a much cleaner experience. Looking at GitHub there are still a few bugs being posted recently with ExplorerPatcher when new Windows updates are released but I'm not sure how quickly they get resolved. For me it was a pain to reinstall Windows 10 with all the apps and settings but I can't say I miss anything that Windows 11 had to offer. I am hopeful that Win 11 may eventually add the feature to never combine taskbar buttons but am happy with Win 10 for now. Please let me know how you go with ExplorerPatcher and if it does not introduce new issues? I would suggest to try it as you can always uninstall it. Cheers

I've tried every solution in the book but Windows keeps putting new windows wherever it feels like. i can earn a bunch of points over there!
