Windows Explorer preview pane not showing PDF previews

I have raised this issue with Adobe on their forum.

I am unable to view previews of adobe PDF documents in the preview pane in Windows Explorer on my computer (i.e. local drive or network drive) unless it is via my OneDrive folder.

When trying to view files on WE that are on local or network drives, the preview plane is blank and contains no error message or warning.

I have tried the solutions posed in the Adobe forum - none of these have worked. I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling - again this has not worked. I refered it to my IT department who tried to edit the registry and use apps such as PowerTools - again this has not worked.

Not sure why this has occured as randomly one day it just stopped working.

Are there any solutions that actually work for this?

Use a tool like ShellExView (from NirSoft) to disable non-Microsoft shell extensions temporarily.

Focus on extensions related to PDF or file preview.

Restart Explorer and check if previews work.

Install a 64-bit Microsoft PDF Preview plug-in from the Microsoft Store, or set the Preview pane as the default program in Settings, and you'll be able to fix it.

Since this month's updates, I'm unable to preview PDF's in Preview pane, since all the files that are marked as MTW ("Mark of the Web") are considered to raise security issues. My problem here is that it is preventing from Preview even files that are stored locally at the desktop or the documents folder ( and they are not blocked due to this MTW attribute ).

My workaround was to add them as trusted sites in the Internet Options but this is just a workaround and there may be other folders in this situation. Is there anything else I can do besides uninstalling the updates or applying this workaround?

      Thanks.
