Windows 25H2 update – S3 sleep mode compatibility issue

2. What happened when trying to enter sleep mode?
The computer sleep configuration is the system default, and when it goes to sleep or after the second sleep or the first sleep after restarting, it will be woken up for no reason during sleep. Personally, I think the compatibility of Windows 11 operating system with S3 sleep is not good, especially for desktops and laptops with 2.5G unlimited brand network cards and onboard 2.5G network cards, there are bugs such as misjudgment of network card signals. In addition, after sleep is awakened, the sound card still has a long silence problem, which can only be restored after a period of time. The program itself does not support the wake-up function after investigation, and the commonly used programs will not disturb sleep, and can eliminate program and hardware problems.
3. Does this issue only appear after the 25H2 update:
Including but not limited to the latest official version of Windows 11 25H2, covering preview and official versions from 2024 to the future.
4. What troubleshooting methods have you tried?
4-1: Try to reinstall the system, clean installation (not solved)
4-2: Try to install the latest version of the driver, or even update the BIOS to the latest version (unsolvable)
4-3: Replace hardware such as motherboard, memory, power supply, etc., including replacing other brands (unsolvable)
4-4: Contact Microsoft support and take measures to turn off the wake-on-NIC (temporarily solved, but it affects the wake-on-NIC function, which is inconvenient to use).
5. Other instructions
5-1. In 2024, ASUS (Shanghai) employees posted as early as 2024-09-23 that https://zhuanlan.zhihu.com/p/721525894 the symptoms are as I described, so it can be confirmed that as early as 2024, the version of Windows 11 at that time (including the official version and the preview version) had sleep compatibility issues for the 2.5G network card, and my network card was Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller, even the ASUS PRIME B760M-A (the onboard network card is the GAMING version of the Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller) that I used before, also has this problem be posted other forums, and even the motherboard of the latest Intel 15th generation platform with a motherboard chipset, as long as it has a 2.5G network card on board.
5-2, Windows 11 is not compatible with the sleep of the 2.5G network card, before compared with my work PC (configured as Intel 10th generation platform, the network card is realtek 1G network card, the default is to turn on the network card wake-up), the old platform of the 1G network card sleeps normally, and the computer only supports S3 sleep mode.
5-3. Whether it is a hanging program or not a hanging program, there is this problem, the program itself does not support the wake-up function after troubleshooting, and the commonly used programs will not disturb sleep, and the program and hardware problems can be eliminated.
In view of this, I hope that the engineering team can take this problem seriously and solve the S3 sleep compatibility problem in the official version and preview version of Windows that the sleep signal is misjudged and woken up for no reason when the wake-up function is turned on by default in the official version and preview version of Windows (S0 also exists, common notebooks), ensure the reliability of sleep and wake-up, and be able to enter sleep normally and resume normal use of the wake-up function for the 2.5G network card.
Thank you. I hope that the Microsoft engineering team engineer will contact me as soon as possible to fix the problem as soon as possible, and I am willing to cooperate with the follow-up BUG handling. I personally expect to completely fix the problem by February 2026, fix the S3 sleep compatibility for 2.5G network cards, etc., and make the default network card wake-up function completely return to normal and be able to sleep normally, so that there will be no unprovoked wake-up problems caused by signal misjudgment. The current measures to turn off the network card wake-up function are indeed inconvenient for normal use of network card wake-up.
