Windows 11 home internet not working after update

I just updated with my windows 11 home with the latest patches today. After restart, my internet is not working anymore. I have tried restarting few times, restarting the router, flushing dns, Ip release, IP renew etc. Nothing worked. Did a full network reset. That failed too. As a last resort as suggested by Google AI, I manually set my DNS to a fixed IP, then only it worked. So after updating my Win 11 today, my automatic dhcp totatlly stopped working. Has this happened to anyone else ?  Any guess why this would have happened and how I can get my automatic DNS back to working state ? WIFI is working on every other device conntected like phone, TV, Alexa...etc.  Thanks.

Sounds like the update broke your DHCP client service or reset your network adapter settings—try restarting the DHCP Client service and reinstalling the network adapter driver to get automatic DNS working again.

  • If changing only the DNS server restored browsing, that does not establish that DHCP stopped working completely. Your PC may receive a valid address and gateway while the automatically supplied DNS server is incorrect or unreachable. Before another reset, run ipconfig /all and record the active adapter's DHCP status, address, gateway, and DNS servers. Temporarily return DNS to automatic, reconnect, and compare those values with the working configuration. Use nslookup to test a public hostname and note which DNS server answers or times out. Also test automatic settings on a different network, such as your own hotspot. If automatic DNS works there, investigate the router's DHCP/DNS configuration; other devices may use different resolvers. If it fails across networks, check the adapter driver and any VPN or filtering software. Keep the working settings documented, and share the Windows build, update KB, and redacted results before attributing this to the patch.
