Windows 11 home internet not working after update
If changing only the DNS server restored browsing, that does not establish that DHCP stopped working completely. Your PC may receive a valid address and gateway while the automatically supplied DNS server is incorrect or unreachable. Before another reset, run ipconfig /all and record the active adapter's DHCP status, address, gateway, and DNS servers. Temporarily return DNS to automatic, reconnect, and compare those values with the working configuration. Use nslookup to test a public hostname and note which DNS server answers or times out. Also test automatic settings on a different network, such as your own hotspot. If automatic DNS works there, investigate the router's DHCP/DNS configuration; other devices may use different resolvers. If it fails across networks, check the adapter driver and any VPN or filtering software. Keep the working settings documented, and share the Windows build, update KB, and redacted results before attributing this to the patch.
