Windows 11 Corrupt Update, Windows First Steps keeps crashing after restart & opening system apps
Hi,
my Laptop is not working anymore since I installed Windows Updates and since then the Windows "First Steps" Install Helper keeps popping up and crashes each time.
I tried to reinstall updates, deinstall updates troubleshooting with sfc /scannow etc.
I checked for malware and did almost everything. I set up a new local user on my laptop and the first step installer also crashed there. (The installer which asks you to share location, analysis reports etc.)
I didnt find any similar article about this issue.
I would be glad for any help, I fear that I have to reinstall Windows... Wont install Windows 11 again, just having issues with it.

I have had the same issue on two of my 40 computers so far. In one of those, I was able to fix the issue by reverting/uninstalling the latest Windows updates from May 2024. Still, the other computer crashed completely, with no fix or reinstallation of Windows possible. The file system looked damaged while rebooting to apply the updates, so I Fixed the FS, but it did not help. After frustration and no solutions, I decided to start in MS-DOS to back up personal files and format and reimagine the computer. no one wants to have a computer carrying issues, so it's better to reinstall.
I paused the newest updates on the other computers until I figured out the problem and followed up with Microsoft.

fabiangtz hi,
thank you for you answer. I also tried everything in the end but nothing helped at all. I had to reinstall windows, but this time I went back to windows 10.
11 just isn’t for me with all the issues.
and now I have a corrupt update again, but it seems that many people have this issue with a windows 10 security update that fails to install.
thanks for your message 😊
