Unsupported CPU Blue Screen After Windows Update

Hi everyone, I’m in a tough spot with my LG laptop after installing an update from the Windows Alpha program. Post-update, I immediately hit a blue screen error suggesting my processor isn’t supported. Now, the system won’t boot at allno Windows, no Safe Mode, and no access to recovery options to undo the update.

Ah, that's a brutal situation. I've been there with an old laptop after a big update—it's a total headache.

Since you can't boot at all, your best bet is to create a Windows 11/10 USB installer on another PC, boot from it, and do a clean install or try a repair. You might need to bypass the CPU check during setup—there are guides online for that.

Once you’re back up, opt out of insider builds on unsupported hardware to avoid this happening again. Hope you get it sorted!

Oh man, that's a nasty one. I hit a similar wall once. Your best bet is to boot from a Windows 11 USB drive and use it to either run a system restore or perform a clean installation.

You'll need to do an in-place upgrade or clean install using a bootable USB drive.

Since you can't boot, create a Windows 11 USB installer on another computer, boot from it on your LG laptop, and choose "Upgrade" to reinstall Windows while keeping your files. This should replace the problematic update files and get you back in.

If that fails, you might need to back up your data from the USB environment and do a clean install.

Power on the PC, and as soon as Windows starts booting, hold the power button to force a shutdown. Repeat 2–3 times.

Windows should automatically enter Recovery Environment (WinRE).

    In the Recovery Environment:
    1. Try Startup Repair first. I doubt this will work though, since the problem is between the OS and your CPU, so:
    2. Try System Restore - if you have restore points. Roll back to an earlier restore point.
    3. Don't install the update again - turn off Feature Updates.

If the above fail, you'll have to create an installation media using the Media Creation Tool and try to do an in-place upgrade (keep your files and programs).
