Upgrade the motherboard and CPU. Otherwise, you need to apply some tricks to install Windows 11 on Acer TC-780 unsupported computer.

Hi! Upgrading Acer Aspire TC-780 to Windows 11 can be a bit tricky since your system doesn't meet some of the official hardware requirements, notably the lack of TPM 2.0, which is a key security feature for Windows 11. However, you can proceed with a workaround to install Windows 11 manually. Here's what you need to know and steps you can take:
Important Note:
- Bypassing hardware checks can cause potential security and stability issues.
- Make sure to back up your data before upgrading Acer laptop to Windows 11.
- Some features of Windows 11 may not work properly without TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot.
Check Compatibility and Prepare
- Processor: Your Intel Core i7-7700 is technically supported for Windows 11.
- TPM 2.0: Not present, so you'll need to bypass this requirement.
- Secure Boot: Likely not enabled, but you can attempt to enable it in BIOS if supported.
- RAM & Storage: Satisfy the minimum requirements.

The Intel Core i7-7700 is not supported by Windows 11. It comes with LGA1151 socket with Intel H110 chipset. Unfortunately, TC-780’s motherboard doesn't support Intel 8th/9th/10th/11th Gen CPUs. A motherboard replacement is required in order to install Windows 11 on this unsupported Acer desktop.
What are your upgrade options?
You need to upgrade the whole motherboard and CPU.
- Buy a new motherboard (B460, B560, H610, etc.)
- Buy a Windows 11-supported CPU (Intel 8th Gen or newer)
May also need:
- New DDR4 or DDR5 RAM (depending on the motherboard)
- Possibly a new power supply (check connectors and wattage)
- Fresh Windows 11 install
💡 If you go this route, your TC-780 case is usable—but verify if it uses standard mATX mounts and PSU (many Acer OEMs do).
If you're not ready to replace CPU + motherboard, you can upgrade Acer desktop to Windows 11 using a bypass method.

Upgrading Acer laptop to Windows 11 is generally safe if your device meets the system requirements and you get the upgrade from Microsoft’s official channels. I’ve done similar upgrades myself, and as long as you’re careful, it’s pretty smooth sailing.
From my experience, the main risks or things to watch out for are:
- Make sure your Acer laptop actually meets Windows 11’s specs—like TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, etc. If not, the upgrade might not go smoothly or could cause bugs.
- Always back up your important stuff before upgrading. I learned this the hard way once when a big update went sideways, and I lost some files.
- Some older apps or drivers might not play nice with Windows 11. Usually, Windows Update takes care of most driver stuff, but it’s good to check your critical programs work after the upgrade.
- Make sure your laptop is plugged in during the upgrade, so it doesn’t run out of juice halfway through—that’s a rookie mistake I’ve made before!
In my honest opinion, if you follow the official guide to upgrade Acer laptop to Windows 11, check your specs first, and back everything up, you’re pretty safe. Just don’t rush it, and avoid downloading random “upgrade tools” from shady sites.

TPM 2.0 is required by Windows 11. You won't be able to receive Windows 11 upgrade notification if the PC does not meet the minimal system requirements. Unfortunately, you can’t just buy a TPM 2.0 chip and plug it into the Acer Aspire TC‑780, because its motherboard has no TPM header—the TC‑780 never shipped with a TPM connector on either its 6th‑ or 7th‑gen Skylake chipset boards. That means there's no place to physically install a TPM module.
✅ What you can do
1. Use the CPU’s integrated (firmware) TPM, if available:
First, check if your BIOS/UEFI supports firmware TPM (“fTPM”) or PTT (Platform Trust Technology).
In Windows, press ⊞ Win + R → tpm.msc.
- If it shows TPM version 2.0, you’re already set! No hardware change needed.
- If it’s blank or unavailable, your system doesn’t support it
2. Add a discrete TPM card:
Only possible if the motherboard has an appropriate header (it doesn't).
As confirmed in Acer's forum, there is no TPM connector so hardware addition is a no-go.
Once you have the TPM enabled, you can now upgrade Acer Aspire TC-780 desktop computer to Windows 11. Feel free to ask if you'd like frame-builder recommendations or help finding a TPM-capable PC.
