Pls help me upgrade Acer Aspire TC-780 computer to Windows 11
TPM 2.0 is required by Windows 11. You won't be able to receive Windows 11 upgrade notification if the PC does not meet the minimal system requirements. Unfortunately, you can’t just buy a TPM 2.0 chip and plug it into the Acer Aspire TC‑780, because its motherboard has no TPM header—the TC‑780 never shipped with a TPM connector on either its 6th‑ or 7th‑gen Skylake chipset boards. That means there's no place to physically install a TPM module.
✅ What you can do
1. Use the CPU’s integrated (firmware) TPM, if available:
First, check if your BIOS/UEFI supports firmware TPM (“fTPM”) or PTT (Platform Trust Technology).
In Windows, press ⊞ Win + R → tpm.msc.
- If it shows TPM version 2.0, you’re already set! No hardware change needed.
- If it’s blank or unavailable, your system doesn’t support it
2. Add a discrete TPM card:
Only possible if the motherboard has an appropriate header (it doesn't).
As confirmed in Acer's forum, there is no TPM connector so hardware addition is a no-go.
Once you have the TPM enabled, you can now upgrade Acer Aspire TC-780 desktop computer to Windows 11. Feel free to ask if you'd like frame-builder recommendations or help finding a TPM-capable PC.
