Microsoft store help
Hello,
I can´t use my Microsoft account.
I don´t know the person that is associated with the unknown Email.
The only thing I know is that their email is ******@163.com
Whenever I want to log in to the microsoft in, I need to verify via the unknown email which I neihter posses nor know.
I really need help because I just can´t unlink my account with theirs and therefore can’t download anything from the Microsoft Store. I’ve logged into my Microsoft account and I don’t see their email listed but yet when I try to download anything app from the Microsoft store and even though I type in my pin correctly it wants me to verify with this account I don’t recognize
thank you for any help.

this is a Microsoft account hijacking / mislinked identity issue. Here’s a clear, step-by-step solution you (or the person asking) can follow to fix it:
You want to verify with an unknown email address (e.g., ******@163.com) when using Microsoft Store, even though that email is not linked to your Microsoft Account.
This typically happens when:- A different Microsoft account (with a similar name) is cached in the Store app.
- The Store app or Windows sign-in is using a secondary or previous account.
- Or in rare cases, there’s been an account mix-up or credential hijack.
Step-by-Step Fix
1. Sign out of all accounts in Microsoft Store
- Open Microsoft Store.
- Click on your profile picture (top right corner) → choose Sign out for every account shown.
- Then close the Store completely (Alt + F4 or via Task Manager).
2. Clear Microsoft Store cache
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:wsreset.exe
- Press Enter — a blank window opens for a few seconds, then the Store restarts.
3. Re-sign in with the correct account
- Reopen Microsoft Store.
- Click the profile icon → Sign in.
- Choose your correct Microsoft account (the one you own).
- If you don’t see it, click “Use a different account” and enter your full email and password.
4. Check your device’s “Email & accounts” settings
- Open Settings → Accounts → Email & accounts.
- Under Accounts used by other apps, remove any unknown or 163.com addresses.
- Make sure only your Microsoft account is listed.
5. Check for Windows sign-in mix-ups
Sometimes Windows itself is logged in under another Microsoft account.
- Go to Settings → Accounts → Your info
→ Check if your account email matches the one you actually use. - If not, switch to a local account, then sign in again with your real Microsoft account.
6. (Optional but important) Check account security online
- Go to: https://account.microsoft.com/security
- Log in with your correct account.
- Under Security info, ensure there are no unknown recovery emails or phone numbers.
- Remove anything you don’t recognize.
- Change your password and enable 2-step verification.
7. Test the Store again
Now open Microsoft Store → try downloading an app.
It should prompt you for your Microsoft account only — not the unknown one. - rohankhCopper Contributor
- Verify the account
- Sign in to account.microsoft.com with your usual account.
- Check Security > Advanced security options, Devices, and Family & other users for any unknown linked email.
- Remove any unknown link
- Sign out/in of Microsoft Store with your known account.
- In Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts, remove any unfamiliar Microsoft or email entries.
- Secure your account
- Enable 2FA with an authenticator app.
- Change your Microsoft password.
- Check recent activity for unfamiliar sign-ins.
- Recover access if needed
- Use account recovery: https://account.live.com/acctrecovery
- If needed, contact Microsoft Support via support.microsoft.com and explain account takeover.
- Clear and re-sign
- Clear cache for Microsoft Store, sign out/in with your own account, ensure region/country is correct.

Enter your email address and follow the prompts to reset your password or verify your identity.
If the recovery process asks for the unknown email or verification code from that email, and you don't have access, proceed to the next step.
