- Verify the account
- Sign in to account.microsoft.com with your usual account.
- Check Security > Advanced security options, Devices, and Family & other users for any unknown linked email.
- Remove any unknown link
- Sign out/in of Microsoft Store with your known account.
- In Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts, remove any unfamiliar Microsoft or email entries.
- Secure your account
- Enable 2FA with an authenticator app.
- Change your Microsoft password.
- Check recent activity for unfamiliar sign-ins.
- Recover access if needed
- Use account recovery: https://account.live.com/acctrecovery
- If needed, contact Microsoft Support via support.microsoft.com and explain account takeover.
- Clear and re-sign
- Clear cache for Microsoft Store, sign out/in with your own account, ensure region/country is correct.
