Issue Printing in Color on Windows 11
I am having an issue enabling color printing on Windows 11 for my HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer several times, installed the latest printer drivers for this model, and made sure that it was set up using a Standard TCP/IP Port instead of WSD. Here is what my computer is showing when I attempt to print:
Ink cartridges installed have a sufficient amount of ink (I just installed two new ink cartridges). Any possible solutions would be much appreciated!

Sometimes, printer firmware might be outdated, leading to compatibility issues.
Check the HP website for any firmware updates for the OfficeJet Pro 6978 model.
Follow the instructions to update the firmware, but ensure you follow HP's guides and instructions carefully.

JayJayson102 There is no option for Color Printing Mode in Advanced Settings. I have included a picture of how my screen looked when attempting to find this option. Thanks for the potential solution though, I appreciate it.

- Click on the Window icon and open Settings
- In the setting click on Bluetooth&devices on the left pane.
- Click on the Printers&scanners
- From the list of installed printers, click the name of the printer you want to set up
- Click on the Printing Preferences
- Click on the Advanced option
- Click on the Color Printing Mode
- Choose the True Color option
- Click OK
if you cannot see the color option on advance option and share your findings.

On Windows 11, this usually happens if “Print in grayscale” is turned on. Go into Printer Properties → Printing Preferences and make sure grayscale/black & white is unchecked for your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978. Also confirm it’s using the full HP driver, not a generic Microsoft one, that can block color options.
