Use the supported pause-and-repair path first, not service disabling. In Settings > Windows Update, pause updates long enough to stop the immediate loop, restart, and make sure no update installation is still pending. Then run Windows Update again only after you have a current backup and enough free disk space. If the same KB loops, use Windows Update history and Event Viewer to capture the failing error code, then try the Microsoft Update Catalog package for the exact build and architecture. For a March baseline, an in-place repair upgrade using the official Windows ISO can also move the system forward without manually deleting system files.
