How to easily delete watermark from photo for free?

I recently downloaded dozens of photos I own from a cloud service, and unfortunately, the platform placed a small watermark in the corner after downloading the images. Since I'm the original owner, I'd like to remove this watermark for a cleaner copy to print. The problem is, I have virtually no experience with photo editing tools and find most professional software overwhelming.

Could anyone recommend a truly simple and free method for a complete beginner? I'm looking for either a very user-friendly website or a mobile app that can bulk delete watermark from photo with minimal steps. I would be so grateful for any clear guidance or tutorial suggestions you might have. Thank you for your help

On Windows 11, please use the "Generative Fill" Feature in Microsoft Paint. This is a powerful, native tool in Windows 11 that is perfect for removing watermark from images.

Open the Image in Paint: Right-click your photo and select Edit with Paint.

Select the Watermark: Use the Selection tool to carefully draw a box around the watermark.

Right-Click and Delete: Right-click inside the selection and choose "Generative Fill".

Leave the Prompt Blank: A sidebar will appear. Simply leave the prompt field empty and click "Generate".

AI Fills the Space: Paint's AI will analyze the surrounding area and intelligently fill the selected spot (where the watermark was) with a generated background that matches the rest of the photo.

This method is excellent for deleting watermarks from photo that are not just in the corner but overlaying part of the image.

  • If the watermark is a simple text or logo in the corner, the easiest non-AI method is to crop it out.

Step 1: If you don't have it, get the free Microsoft PowerToys from the Microsoft Store or its GitHub repository.

Step 2: Right-click your image: Select "PowerToys > Image Resizer".

Step 3: In the settings, choose "Custom" and define a size. The key is to uncheck "Maintain aspect ratio".

Step 4: By setting a custom size that doesn't match the original aspect ratio, the tool will effectively crop your image. Adjust the dimensions to exclude the watermark area.

This is a quick and effective way to delete watermark from photo without any AI.

My suggestion is Copilot. You cannot directly delete watermark from a photo within Microsoft Copilot itself. Copilot is primarily an AI-powered chat assistant and content creator, not a dedicated image editing tool with an "erase" function.

However, Copilot can be an incredibly helpful partner in this process by guiding you to the right tools and even performing the task for you in a more integrated way. Here’s a breakdown of the correct methods, from easiest to most advanced.

Go to copilot.microsoft.com and make sure you are in the Creative conversation style for the best results.

Use a specific prompt. Type a command like this for deleting watermark from images:

Remove the text watermark from this image and create a clean version using Microsoft Designer

Then, click the paperclip icon or the + button to upload the photo with the watermark.

Copilot will understand your request, use its AI model (which is powered by DALL-E 3), and generate a new, cleaned-up version of your image within the Microsoft Designer interface. This is a modern way to delete watermark from photo with AI tool.

You can preview the image generated by the AI and download it if you're happy with the result.

How it works: Instead of "deleting" pixels, the AI is generating new pixels to fill in the space where the watermark was, based on its understanding of the underlying image. This works very well for simple watermarks on uncomplicated backgrounds.

If you are going to delete watermark from photo and if the watermark is in a simple area (like a solid-colored corner or against a clear sky), the built-in Windows Paint is surprisingly effective and already on your computer.

    How to do it:

    1. Right-click your photo and select Edit. This opens it in Paint.
    2. On the Home tab, click the Eyedropper tool.
    3. Click on a color right next to the watermark to select it as your primary color.
    4. Now, select the Brush tool and pick a brush size that matches the area.
    5. Carefully paint over the watermark. You can use the Eyedropper again to pick up different colors as you go (e.g., from the top of a letter to the bottom).
    6. For straight lines, use the Line tool with the color you picked.

About deleting watermark from photo, Microsoft Paint is a viable option only for the simplest watermarks on plain backgrounds. It's a digital version of using a fine-tipped marker to cover something up. For anything more complex, the results will look messy and obvious. For your case, since you have dozens of photos, investing 10 minutes to learn the Clone Stamp in Peint,NET or the Megic Ereser in Cenve will save you hours of frustration and give you much cleaner, professional-looking results.

  • Using GlMP to delete watermark from photo on a Windows computer is possible, but keep in mind that removing watermarks may infringe on copyright or intellectual property rights if you do not have permission from the owner. Always ensure you have the legal right to modify the image. If you have the right to edit the photo, here are some general steps to delete watermark form photo vai GlMP:

    1. Open the Image in GlMP
Launch GlMP and open your photo.
    2. Select the Watermark Area
Use selection tools like the Clone Tool, Healing Tool, or Lasso Tool to carefully select the watermark.
    3. Use the Clone or Healing Tool
Clone Tool (C): Sample nearby areas and paint over the watermark.
Healing Tool (H): Similar to Clone but blends better with the surrounding pixels.
    4. Refine the Edited Area
Zoom in and carefully blend the area to make it look natural.
       Finalize and Save
Once satisfied, export the edited image.

Note: Deleting watermark from photo can be a complex process, and achieving a seamless result might require some practice.

Paint-NET is a great free tool for Windows that can help you delete watermark from photo, especially if you're willing to do a bit of manual editing. It’s user-friendly compared to more professional software like Photoshop. Here's a simple step-by-step guide to delete watermark from photo using Paint-NET:

How to delete Watermark  from photo using Paint-NET

    1. Download and Install Paint-NET.
    2. Open Your Photo, launch Paint-NET and go to File > Open and select your photo.
    3. Zoom In on the Watermark:
Use the zoom tool or scroll wheel to get a close-up view of the watermark for more precise editing.
    4. Select the Clone Stamp Tool:
In the toolbar, find the Clone Stamp Tool (it looks like a rubber stamp).
If you don’t see it, right-click the toolbar to customize and add it.
    5. Set the Clone Source:
Hold down the Ctrl key and click on an area close to the watermark that you want to use to cover it.
      Release Ctrl.
    6. Peint Over the Watermark:
Click and drag over the watermark area.
The Clone Stamp will copy pixels from the source area and peint over the watermark.
Adjust the brush size and hardness in the toolbar as needed for more precise work.
    7. Refine Your Work:
Continue sampling and painting until the watermark is covered smoothly.
Use the Undo button (Ctrl+Z) if needed.
    8. Save Your Image:
Once satisfied, go to File > Save As to save your edited photo.
