File explorer open tabs behaviour
I would like to know, is there a way to set the tab function of the windows file explorer to directly jump to the tab I just opened. By default it opens a new one but stays in the current. Hope you understand what I mean.

Currently, in Windows 11 File Explorer, tabs are supported, but there is no native option to automatically switch to a newly opened tab. When you use "Open in new tab" (via right-click or middle-click), the new tab opens in the background, and File Explorer remains on the current tab.
This behavior is by design, and at this time, there is no setting in File Explorer to change it.
Alternative:
If you require more advanced tab behavior, including automatically switching to new tabs, you might consider using third-party file manager applications such as Files (available in Microsoft Store) or Directory Opus, which offer more customization.I understand this may not be ideal, but hopefully future Windows updates will offer more flexibility in tab management.

By default, Windows File Explorer (especially in Windows 11 and Windows 10 with the latest updates) does not support tab management natively. Windows Explorer itself doesn’t have built-in tab support like a web browser. Instead, this behavior is often provided by third-party file explorers or extensions.
