After the recent update, the items in the explorer navigation pane became quite spread out
Below is the screenshot. Is there any way to fix this?

Sometimes, simply collapsing and then expanding the navigation pane can refresh its appearance. Just right-click on the pane and select Close or Collapse, then reopen it to see if that resolves the spacing issue.

Sometimes display settings can cause items to appear spaced out:
Right-click on the Desktop and select Display settings.
Under Scale and layout, make sure the scaling setting is appropriate. Try setting it to 100% to see if that improves the appearance. - ZachZ1745Copper ContributorHi, I've experienced this issue before as well. I have SolidWorks and PDM installed on my PC, but I wasn’t able to get the Windows 24H2 update in my region. Today, however, I updated my graphics driver to the latest version from the Nvidia website, and it seems to have fixed the problem. Now, the navigation pane has returned to the previous spacing.
- Sideny_StrouthIron ContributorI have the exact same issue, I am not sure if it was the windows update or the driver update that messed it up for me.
- AnniassCopper Contributor24H2 is now available and you can try now!
- MomedsBrass ContributorWindows 11 does not offer many customization options for the navigation pane spacing, but you can try adjusting the size of the pane itself:
Resize the Navigation Pane: Hover over the edge of the navigation pane until the cursor changes to a double arrow, then click and drag to resize the pane. Sometimes adjusting the size can help reduce spacing and improve the layout.- mlevainCopper Contributor
I believe there has been a misunderstanding regarding our issue.
We are referring to a line spacing problem in the left navigation pane of Windows Explorer.
Following a recent update, the line spacing has increased significantly, and there is no option to modify it. Interestingly, this phenomenon has occurred on one of my PCs running Windows 11, but not on the other.
The compact mode does not resolve the issue.
It is not uncommon for Microsoft updates to create problems, as seen in the past with the update that removed the "My Documents" folder.- aoleary1980Copper Contributor
mlevain I have exactly the same issue.
It happed after an update 09/10/2024 and also to another in the office, but others have not been affected.
- Nobel_BaynesIron ContributorI'm having this issue as of the last week or so too. Still no fix found.
- Sideny_StrouthIron ContributorOpen the options under file explorer, click on view, toggle "decrease space between items (compact view)" enjoy.

Hello,
No, that’s not the right answer! Even with compact mode enabled, the space between the folders remains HUGE!
