70% RAM used with nothing open – Windows Modules Installer eating 1.2GB

Running Windows 11 LTSC on an 8th gen i7 with 16GB of RAM. Been noticing that memory usage sits around 70% pretty consistently.

Task Manager shows:

CPU: ~37%

Memory: ~70%

Disk: ~4%

GPU: ~4%

What stood out to me is that Windows Modules Installer Worker is eating up about 1.2GB of RAM by itself.

I know Windows tends to use memory for caching and background stuff, but I figured LTSC would be leaner than that. Is 70% actually normal for this setup, or is something worth digging into? And could that Windows Modules Installer process be the main culprit here?

  • Windows module installer is likely a temporary servicing load. Make sure windows is fully updated. You browser opened in background can also contribute in it. If your memory usage drops a lot after fully closing the browser, then the browser is likely the bigger contributor.

If the system is responsive and memory falls when the browser is closed, this is usually normal behavior rather than a problem
