Usage of Content Type Hub
Does anyone use Content Type Hub anymore? I have used it before (on-premise) so I know the pros/cons and now testing it within SharePoint Online. Have tested it both on “classic” and new “modern” Team sites with success. CT are distributed within 4-72 hours.
I do prefer a custom solution to have full control of distribution and to pinpoint target site/document library, but still interested to know if the built-in way still is an option? This is also important for the customer for keeping down developer hours.
Any feedback around this are appreciated.
- Abhimanyu SinghSteel ContributorYes. We do use the content type hub with SPO. It makes our lives easier. We have our custom columns there which are then in-turn used within custom content types. These get published and all sites could then consume these. Moreover, changing any thing makes it super easy to get it tenant-wide for all consuming sites. And it is fast enough.

Many thanks for feedback.
Could I ask if you also use the hub for distribution of CT with custom document templates? The Reason for asking: It works fine if we upload the template directly to CT but if we use an URL to template this will fail during usage of the distributed CT. I have posted a question about that here.

We don't use doc templates, as we don't generally have a requirement for that. The only time we needed templates was for a particular site in a document set. For that we didn't use the CTHub, as it made sense to keep it localised for that site. Can't say about your URL problem though.
