The document you are trying to open is a template.
This is the first time I use document sets. where I added a site content type of type document set named "IT", as follow: -
and a content type of type document named "ITPage" which is defined inside the above document set content type; -
Now inside the documents library, I added the "IT" document set content type which also added the "ITPage" content type: -
then I added a new "IT" folder: -
and inside the folder i added a new ITPage document:-
then i got this message:-
so, what is this message? and what it is trying to say?
thanks

DaveMehr365Thanks for the reply and help,,, but i do not have any template nor i need to use it, i just define document sets to tag documents and folder with metadata .. i do not want to use templates
when you don't need the Content Types, you can hide all Content Type from the "new" menu.
Uploaded documents use the default Document type, defined in your SharePoint library.

DaveMehr365ok thanks,, but i do not have any template to use,, i was just planning to create documents with different content types mainly for the metadata using document sets, and not for creating templates
have you added a template to your Document Content Type?
I have saved my templates in a library and us the saved document as template in my document content type:

you are on the list level (list settings > advanced settings).
You need to go direct in a content type and there in the advanced settings, like in my printscreen (list settings > Content Types > click your Content Type > Advanced settings > "Enter the URL of an existing document template")
