Teams list search works oddly

I have a list from Teams that I use sharepoint to search through. However, the search doesn't always work as expected. For instance, I have this string of text as a part of an entry for a fly genotype:

w[*], p{GMR-Gal4}:p{w+=UAS-Argos_SP-Hs.ABeta42}/Cyo

If I search up the bolded characters, the search returns nothing. However, if i type in "ABeta42" or "Hs.ABeta" the correct entry is found. Why is this? Is there a way to fix it? It's not intuitive at all, as there's no telling how much of an entry I need to remember, or what parts of it, before sharepoint will finally recognize it. It makes search much less useful than it ought to be.
