SharePoint Sites For External Users

We have been requiring some of our business partners to create a Microsoft account using their work email account. We started noticing today that you can now only create an account using yahoo, gmail or outlook email addresses. We really don’t want to send work related information to their personal accounts.

Any advice here?

  • Be careful if you do go the Azure B2B method thou, if you use any premium features with the accounts where you force MFA or anything like that you do still have to have azure premium licenses for those b2b accounts at a 5 b2b accounts to 1 license.
  • You should use Azure AD B2B instead.

    See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/active-directory-b2b-what-is-azure-ad-b2b

Yep, Azure AD B2B is another way to go...or you can also take advantage of the new sharing feature in ODFB and SPO that allows you to share information to non Office 365 accounts by means of a verification code

Secure links (i.e. with verification code) work only for sharing files and folders.

I was under the impression that Trent Brantley wants to share a site.

        Am I wrong?

  • You can also use O365 account for creating an account. Does your customer have one?
