No, it's not Host Named Site Collections (HNSC)...HNSC is more for onprem and allows you to setup different URLs for a Site Collection withouth having to touch the AAM (Alternate Access Mappings)...this concept is not available in SPO. Just remember in SPO we deal with a SPO tenant and then Site Collections created in the tenant. You should work with site collections and leav (if possible) the pattern of creating subsites under a site collection

Juan. Thanks for the clarification. I've been using HNSC for on-prem farm but wasn't clear whether terminologies carried over in SPO.
