Review users who will lose access to "xxxxxx"

A simple question but i cant seem to find the right answer.

When guest users have been granted access to a site or file, it will expire after x period of time. MS documentation claims ALL site admins will receive a notification via mail. I have some pretty clear examples this isn't the case. Older documentation claims the Primary admin will receive an email but when i check the examples, the owner group is the primary admin and that group contains 'all' the admins. So you would expect all of them to receive an email. But only one of them is getting that email and i really would like to know how why that is happening? Am i missing something obvious?

  • Hi Tim,

By default, notifications are sent to site owners. But depend if site owners has been added directly or from Active directory group.
To check or change this parameter, you can customize this:
    Site settings > Site permissions
And then from ribbon: Access Request Settings

From here you will see the configuration setup but also define otherwize some other email to notify to.

    Hope it will help you,

    Rgds,

    Valentin

This is how you would expect it would work. Double checked and in this perticular case we use the same configuration. Admins of the team will be informed, in case of access request.

But does the same apply to the notification for the expiring of guests access? I would expect it does but in my case it does not. 1 admin was added while creating the page, I was added a couple of months ago as an admin to help her with some questions. She received a notification mail to extend the access of a guest user who is about to expire, i received nothing ( checked exhange mailflow to make sure i did not receive the email and i did not )

So could be requesting access notification be a different setting than the extend a guest user notification?
