Remove "Pages" from Navigation

Hi all,

The new look is adding "Pages" to my navigation, and I don't want that. IS there any way to fix it?

  • You will be able to remove the Pages link from the navigation in the near future. Thank you for the feedback!

Now MS seems to push the stupid pages link even into classic sites. Even with tenant settings set to classic. Well done MS! Keep forcing users into modern experience and you will keep losing customers...

This was almost 3 months ago. Any news on how soon the 'near future' will be?

Something might have happened in the background, as now with first release users I can't see the Pages node in the navigation. Users with standard release still can see it.

In the meantime (at least I can't remember I've seen it previously) a "Show pages" checkbox appeared within Site settings / Navigation, by default it seems to be unchecked, but it's greyed out, can't be checked.

Looks like in the very near future you will be able to remove pages from the quick launch on modern pages. Not yet though...

I'm also struggling with this. Based on what I've found here, it is a by design behavior by now and the "Pages" node can't be removed.

Navigation should reflect the content of the site you are on. If the only page on a site is the Home page why do I need a link to 'Pages'.

The problem is that the 'Pages' node can't be removed from the navigation at all, so you have it even if you don't need it.

  • If i am correct you should also have a setting in your SharePoint Admin Tennant to disable pages for non admins.
  • There are a few ways you could try:
    - Customizing the navigation in the site settings page
    - Try some CSS / JS that hides parts of the menu

One of those things doesn't work (It's not there) and the other one isn't accessible in the new experience.
