Preview .eml and .msg files in SharePoint on premises

Trevor is correct. OOTB this is not possible. You will need to deploy 3rd party apps (e.g. AppSource https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/office/wa104380931) to provide this functionality. These apps not only provide preview capabilities they also provide functionality to extract email metadata like subject, from, conversion id, .. and capture the values into SharePoint columns.
