Permissions Removal

I am trying to remove request access to files in SharePoint. I know how to do that. I use teams to manage my SharePoint permissions. I want users to request access through teams so that they have full access to the SharePoint site. Can I remove access requests from the SharePoint site, and will requests for access to a team site still come in with the requests being disabled in SharePoint.
