"Modified by" not updating properly for DocumentSets in a SPO Document Library
Dear Experts!
Sorry for the confusing title ;o)
Case:
We have configured some DocumentSets in our ContentTypeHub that are distributed to a specific Sharepoint Site Document library. This is working as it should, but we are experiencing some issues with the "Modified by" column not updating correctly for some of the DocumentSets. Others are working fine in the same library, so that is why we are struggling to figure out whats going on.
Any tips? Looks like re-indexing the library only affect search, but this seems to work as it should. Other DocumentSets have updated author, but the ones that we have problems with, only have "System Account" in the Author-field.
I've attached two images. The first is the documentSet as seen in the mail library, the other is inside the actual DocumentSet. As you can see, the files are updated correctly inside the DS, but not in the library.
Colums are default: Name, Modified, Modified By, Version
And inside the DocumentSet
The "Modified By" in this column is blacked out for obvious reasons, but here it is listing the correct name.
Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely
Torbjørn

- Brent EllisSilver ContributorAre you saying the modified date on the Document Set is not updating when the PROPERTIES of the Document Set are being changed? (which if that is not happening is not normal)
Or are you saying the modified date on the Document Set is not updating when the CONTENTS (documents) inside of the Document Set are changed? (which is normal expected behavior)- Torbjørn MelingCopper Contributor
CONTENT is changed. This is reflected in 80% of the sets, but not the reminding 20%. My feeling is that since nearly all of the document sets are updated automatically with "modified by" and "modified" when CONTENT is changed, it's rather odd that some of the sets does not.
To summarize:
All Document Sets are stored in the same list on the same site-collection. All the document sets contain one OneNote file and one folder.
If we change something in the file or the folder (content), this is reflected inside the document set (see picture above). If we then go back to the main list with all the document sets, only 80% of the Document Sets have been updated with the same "modified" and "modified by".

Document sets are effectively a special type of Folder and I have seen buggy behavior like this with Folders in SP for many years. I am assuming that those same bugs exist in Doc Sets. I have no idea why MS has never fixed these types of fundamental problems with folder modification info.
