Modern Document Library Webpart Issue (Managed Metadata displays as [object Object])
Is anyone else having problems with the new Modern Document Library webpart and managed metadata? Columns with managed metadata display as '[object Object]' rather than their actual values.
I've attached a screenshot showing the behavior. The Year column is a basic Choice field whereas the others are Managed Metadata and display as [object Object] in the webpart. This is on a modern page using the newly released document library webpart.

Any updates on this - still seeing "[object Object]" for List Preview for Lookup columns. Is there any ballpark time for a fix being rolled out? Are there any workarounds available in the meantime?

Hi Mike. I just checked and we're also experiencing the [object Object] Lookup issue for the modern List Preview webpart. On a positive note, the modern Document Library webpart has received numerous fixes, including the [object Object] issue for Managed MetaData columns and opening of non-Office documents such as PDFs, images, etc.
The only workaround I know of is to avoid use until Microsoft fixes the bugs. We placed links on pages that went directly to modern versions of lists/libraries rather than use the new webparts. Modern pages only supported a single-column layout until recently, so wasn't really a huge loss.

Hi
We are still experiencing issues with the Lookup columns being displayed as [object Object]. Any update on when or if a fix is being pushed out?
thank you

Thanks so much for reporting this! Chris McNulty and I are escalating this to the engineers to look at, asap.
Any updates to report? I'm seeing the same issues with Lookup Columns as well.
I don't need full blown support, if it prints out a text value instead of [object Object] I'm happy ;)
Any updates? Same thing also occurring with lookup fields...

Thanks for the response! It would also be good to get an update on the handling of non-Office files (PDF, TXT, etc) in the new document library webpart. Lack of support for managed metadata columns and inability to view PDFs is very limiting:
- And just for providing the whole picture: the problem is also in the modern List View WebPart...something that by the way I suspected It was going to happen

MS just made an announcement about improvements to modern libraries ability to handle metadata. Does that solve the problem you were having?
I have just tested this scenario and I can confirm the problem reported by Michael. It seems these new WebParts are not able to work with managed metadata danholme Chris McNulty FYI
