Link in SharePoint Library Does Not Work in SharePoint App

In a SharePoint library, you can add (+New menu) a "Link" where you can then create a link to a webpage or a document in another SharePoint library. This works fine when accessing the Library from a web browser. But it does not work at all when trying to access the link in the SharePoint App. 

When you click the link from the Library on the SharePoint App -> a new page loads in the app that just says [InternetShortcut] URL=https://......(web url you set up)

It does not matter if it is a web url (like google.com) or a link to a SharePoint item - nothing works on the App.

Has anyone else gotten this to work - or is this a bug that Microsoft should fix?
