Is it possible to prevent a user from changing list/library name?

Hi!

Within the interface of a library or list, is it possible to directly change the name, like this:

I want to prevent users from doing that, but they need to also be able to edit list items on that list. Is there a way to accomplish that?

Thanks!

  • Hi jefmeyer,

Thanks for your reply. They are working on SharePoint Online. The link you sent is about SharePoint Server. I created a test account and found out that the users I am talking about indeed had edit permissions somewhere.. You're right! Thanks

Check out the Contribute permission level. Seems like your users have Edit or higher rights. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/sites/user-permissions-and-permission-levels
